When Harry hops the spooky Knight Bus to catch a ride into town, his main stop is the Leaky Cauldron—a wizard’s inn and pub in London… In this festive Leaky Cauldron Halloween cocktail, fruity pumpkin wine is heated through with mulling spices, fresh apples, and cider.

This festive hot Halloween Harry Potter drink is basically a delicious spiced or mulled hot white wine with wonderful hints of fresh crisp apple, cinnamon, and warm winter spice.
A cozy warming mix of deluxe light rum, sweet fruity white wine, cinnamon spice, and apple cider make this delicious hot cocktail perfect for sipping not just at Halloween, but throughout wintertime as well!
To make this simple and warming spiced wine cocktail, you’ll need to grab just a handful of things…
What You’ll Need To Make A Leaky Cauldron Harry Potter Drink for Halloween!
- Fruity sweet white wine – To keep things very festive and seasonal, I used sweet Pumpkin wine (such as Three Lakes pumpkin wine or Leelanau pumpkin fruit wine). If pumpkin wine isn’t available, use a type of sweet white fruit wine. A fruity riesling style wine with some sweetness to it works as well.
- Good light rum – such as Flor de Caña, Banks Island rum, or Brugal Extra Dry
- Real apple cider – if not available, apple cranberry juice may be used or better yet, pure pressed apple juice.
- Mulling spices – such as Olde Tradition Spice (1 packet)
- Whole cinnamon sticks
- Half of a fresh red apple – diced
- Whipped Cream – optional, if making this a non-alcoholic Harry Potter drink for kids
- Caramel Sauce – optional, if. making this a non-alcoholic Halloween drink for kids
Make a Leaky Cauldron Cocktail for Halloween
To make this festive halloween Harry Potter drink inspired by the Leaky Cauldron inn, start by heating the ingredients together in saucepan. (For a kid-friendly non-alcoholic Halloween drink version, scroll down to bottom of article or see notes in recipe card.)
Combine Pumpkin Wine and mulling spices…
Splash a cup of the pumpkin fruit wine into a small saucepan. To the same saucepan, add in the pure apple cider. Now toss in a packet of mulling spices along with 2 cinnamon sticks. Lastly, add in the diced red apple pieces.
Heat Ingredients to Seep and Infuse the Hot Halloween Cocktail with Fall Flavor!
Turn the heat on and heat apple cider through for 10 to 15 minutes until spices and cinnamon sticks have perfumed and flavored the apple cider. Heat while stirring occasionally to distribute the flavors. Heat on low and do not let come to a boil. Adjust heat as needed so that the wine, spices, and rum steep but do not come to bubble in the pot.
When Finished Cooking, Turn Heat off
When 10 minutes cook time is up, turn heat off and cover with a lid. Allow to steep off of the heat an additional 10 minutes.

When finished steeping, remove the mulling spice packet and cinnamon sticks from pot using a slotted spoon. Ladle the spiced wine and cider mixture in a festive witch’s cauldron cup and serve with a cinnamon stick to stir with! Make sure to ladle in lots of diced apple pieces from the pot! They add lots of flavor to the Leaky Cauldron cocktail!

Make this Harry Potter cocktail as a non-alcoholic Halloween drink for kids, too! You can make a non-alcoholic Harry potter Leaky Cauldron drink by simply leaving out the pumpkin wine and rum. Heat just about a cup of good quality pure pressed apple cider in a saucepan with lots of fresh chopped apple, cinnamon sticks, and the packet of mulling spices.
It will basically make a nice hot cider with lots of cozy fall spice. Finish the kids non-alcohlic drink with a twirl of whipped cream on top and a drizzle of caramel sauce or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

The Leaky Cauldron Cocktail | A Halloween Harry Potter Drink
Ingredients
- 1 cup Pumpkin Wine - or sweet white fruit wine such as such as Three Lakes pumpkin wine or Leelanau pumpkin fruit wine.
- 1 oz Good Quality Light Rum - such as Flor de Caña white rum, Banks Island white rum, or Brugal white rum.
- 2 oz Pure Apple Cider
- 1 packet Mulling Spices
- 2 whole Cinnamon Sticks
- 1/2 Red Apple - diced – such as gala or honeycrisp
- Whipped Cream - optional – if making a non-alcoholic version
- Caramel Sauce - optional – for topping if making a non-alcoholic version
Instructions
- Start by heating the ingredients together in saucepan: Splash a cup of the pumpkin fruit wine into a small saucepan. To the same saucepan, add in the pure apple cider. Now toss in a packet of mulling spices along with 2 cinnamon sticks. Lastly, add in the diced red apple pieces.
