There’s just a few quick things to keep in mind when styling Valentine’s Day drinks in a cinch.
The best piece of advice I can give is something you’ve heard many times before, and it still stands today: the devil is in the details. It’s the little things that make a big difference.
- Rose Petals: Add fresh, bold, bright color and immediate elegance to any cocktail. Don’t shy away from dried rose petals, either. It’s exactly what I use in my Antique Rose cocktail with Empress Gin.
- Premium Cocktail Cherries: Use tasty and delicious gourmet cocktail cherries. Don’t use the red stuff from the ice cream section at the grocery store. Gourmet cocktail cherries are made with premium fruit. They have a beautiful fruity syrup with deep red tones that resemble the colors in red wine.
- Your Favorite Bubbly: Wether you choose to go with a favorite bottle of champagne or your favorite sparkling, the rule still stands! Keep it ice cold first, then serve. It doesn’t really matter whether or not you choose a rose or a white grape bubbly. With the crushed fruit included, you won’t be able to see the color of the champagne.
- Fresh Ice: Usually sparklers, mimosas, and bellinis, are served in a tall champagne glass, ice-free. However, for this cocktail, the cherry syrup and crushed fruits require a scoop or so of fresh ice for a nice balance of fruit, bubbles, and sweetness to keep a crisp and cool cocktail.
- Cocktail Glitter and Sanding Sugars: Not totally necessary, but if you’d like to add an extra layer of festive color, I find that rose gold or pink cocktail glitters (stirred in at the end, or sprinkled right on top) add another layer of visual enticement.
