Sherry-spiked Bourbon Old Fashioned Cocktail

This drink is inspired by the original old fashioned cocktail. I swapped out a bitters-soaked sugar cube with a splash of sherry. Can you taste the difference? I won’t tell if you don’t! This sherry-spiked bourbon old fashioned will trick your tongue…

2oz bourbon or rye whiskey

1/2oz sherry

1 orange wedge/wheel

6 dashes of Angostura bitters

In a rocks glass add sherry, orange wheel and bitters. Muddle to bruise the orange wheel and release its oils. Fill glass with ice and pour in whiskey. Stir with a bar spoon until ice melts in a bit and ingredients combine. Top with a very light splash of soda water. Gently give it a finishing stir. Garnish with orange peel and a cherry.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
  • 1/2 oz Sherry
  • 1 wheel Orange - cut into quarters
  • 6 dashes Angostura Bitters
