A Fun Green Christmas Grinch Cocktail bursting with Apple Flavor!

To make this tasty drink green, you’ll want to add one drop of natural organic green food coloring.  This is enough to deliver a dash of festive green Grinch color to this easy cocktail!  

The second thing you’ll do is put a little fun twist on the classic Moscow Mule cocktail.  For this festive Christmas cocktail, we’ll use apple whiskey instead of vodka.  You can use your favorite apple whiskey in this recipe.  

A Festive Christmas Drink with Crown Apple or Your Favorite Apple Whiskey…

I’m using a splash of Crown Royal’s apple whiskey, but other brands of apple whiskey such as Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple or Jim Beam’s Apple Bourbon Whiskey would work just as well.  

The delicious apple flavor from the whiskey pairs perfectly with splashes of fresh lime juice and sparkling ginger beer.  Lot’s of ice and a fun garnish easily make this green cocktail so much fun to sip and serve at your next Christmas party.  To make this festive drink come to life, grab just a handful of simple ingredients to get mixing…

Apple Whiskey Moscow Mule Christmas Grinch Drink Ingredients:

• Apple-flavored whiskey – such as Crown Royal Apple Whiskey or any of the ones mentioned above
• Apple liqueur – such as green apple schnapps or Dekuyper’s Sour Apple Pucker (commonly used to make green apple martinis)
• Fresh limes – for fresh squeezed lime juice and some sliced pieces for garnish
• Simple syrup
• Ginger beer – already chilled – such as Fever-Tree bottled ginger beer, for topping off cocktail at the end
• Fresh Cranberries – for skewering as a festive holiday garnish for this fun holiday drink
• Natural green food coloring – just a dash to give this festive green drink a hint of Grinch green hue

Make A Festive Apple Whiskey Moscow Mule Green Grinch Cocktail

To make this fun Christmas cocktail, start by putting your Moscow Mule cup (or cocktail glass) in the freezer to give it a nice frosty chill before serving.  You can use copper mugs or even metal julep cups.  Given the festive green color of this Mr. Grinch cocktail, I chose to use glass cups to show off the fun colorful Christmas drinks.  

In a cocktail shaker with a lid, begin by splashing in the freshly squeezed lime juice and green apple liqueur.

Add Apple Flavored Whiskey and a hint of Simple Syrup 

Next, to the same cocktail shaker, splash in the apple whiskey and the simple syrup.  To keep from adding too much dye, I like to squeeze one single drop of the food coloring into my jigger, which I use to measure all liquids for the cocktail.  

To do this, I’ll pour the whiskey into my jigger (in this case 1 and 1/2 oz) and then top off with a drop of green food coloring.  Splash this mixture into the cocktail shaker using your jigger and fill the rest of the way with fresh ice.  This keeps everything neat, consistent, and evenly colored.

Cover your cocktail shaker with its own tight-fitting lid and shake well until all ingredients are cold and evenly combined.

Top Your Christmas Party Cocktail Grinch Drink with Ginger Beer

Pour your Christmas drink with crown apple whiskey into your cups and top off the rest of the way with chilled ginger beer. As I mentioned above, I highly recommend Fever-Tree ginger beer because it is super vibrant, fresh-tasting, flavorful, and refreshing. It really elevates the cocktail while creating bright, crisp flavors with added fizz. A perfect finish to this festive holiday Moscow Mule cocktail.

 Garnish with fresh lime wheels and skewered cranberries.  Serve very cold.  Serve immediately.
