What You’ll need To make a diy spring Wreath for Your front door

add big or small blooms to your diy flower wreath

As you can see in some of the photos above and below, I included little bunches or sprays of minty green and soft pink pearls that inspired me to bring out that pink and green color scheme for the spring season.

So I went with these bright colors and tucked in lots of large and small pink blooms for our front door wreath.

I found all of the pink flowers for this in the craft section of my local dollar store. I also use some of these same faux flowers in a cute basket centerpiece decoration! They’re quite versatile…

To decorate a basic diy spring wreath for the front door you’ll need:

  • A simple wreath base made of your favorite material. I always go for the classic grapevine wreath forms for their woodsy and natural feel of the dried twigs and woven vines. Grapevine wreaths also look beautiful even if you decorate and leave parts exposed, as I have done here. This is a great handy set of wreaths that comes with two 12-inch pieces.
  • Artificial flowers, long blooms, wide larger blooms and small blooms. A variety of sizes and colorful flowers helps give your wreath dimension and style. I used a combination of some larger magnolias, and pink cherry blossoms. I found these at the dollar store, but if you are shopping online, these beautiful stems are gorgeous and would look amazing on a wreath as well!
  • Greenery and green leaves help to bring out the color while mimicking the look of fresh flowers. It suggests a sort of natural ‘growing’ look.
  • Ribbon: We cannot have gorgeous spring wreaths without lovely ribbon. Go with your favorite color or colors to tie a decorative bow and give it that big special touch.
  • Wire cutters really help to make easy cuts and separate flowers for tucking into the wreath
  • Cloth or fabric-covered wire. This is my favorite type of wire to work with because it’s easier to handle and you can see it a little better on the back of the wreath when using it to form a hook for hanging or securing decorations.
  • Hot glue for gluing your pieces onto your wreath (optional). If you plan on reusing your wreath to decorate for a different season, then you might just opt to tuck everything into your wreath and simply secure it with thin fabric or cloth-covered wire. You can always use your wire cutters to undo the wire, remove your decorations and then start fresh again with the same wreath. If you plan on using hot glue, this standing hot glue gun is a big favorite of mine for crafts just like this one.

I also popped in some sprigs of eucalyptus leaves and then some larger magnolias towards the ribbon. This sorta created larger focal points to help draw the eye towards a pretty pink fabric bow that kinda steals the show as your eye is drawn to the left on this lovely wreath.

add a bow To your Flowery Spring Wreath

I just love working with this rosy pink ribbon with soft beautiful fabric. The ribbon has wire so it’s quite easy to shape. I especially love it because it was my mom’s and it just reminds me so much of her. It feels like a beautiful part of her is smiling right back at me through every little fold in the bow.

She always chose the most elegant and feminine colors and textures. This particular wreath decor is mostly inspired by her beauty and her style.

For the assembly, there’s no real science to the decoration process. I just started grabbing my grapevine wreath form and adding the bow first, and then centering everything else around it….you can start by adding large blooms first or small blooms first, it really doesn’t matter because you end up finding a flow in how you want things to look as you go along!
