Next, add in a splash of Green River soda! Green River soft drink is pretty popular and here in Chicago it’s a St. Patty’s day staple every year!
You’ll see it everywhere you go. It has that perfect shade of Kelly green color and tastes sweet and fizzy with a light lime flavor. It just can’t be a true Shamrock Shake treat without that hit of Green River soda!
Lastly, finish off with a nice creamy splash of either half & half cream, whole milk, or your favorite creamy milk.
This gives it a silky decadent finish that really makes our festive green shake delicious.
I use full fat whole milk, but you can use your favorite milk. Be sure to pick one that is creamy with some body to it so that it complements the ice cream and other flavors happening in the blender!
As I mentioned earlier, this is pretty much almost like a boozy mudslide drink, only instead coffee and vodka or Bailey’s, we’re adding in mint chip ice cream and bright colorful fruity notes from the blue liqueur.

- 3 to 4 scoops Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream - I used Edy's
- 1½ oz Irish Whiskey - I used Jameson
- 1 oz Blue Curaçao - Your Favorite Brand
- 2 to 3 oz splash Green River Soda - The Chicago Original!
- 1 splash Cream/ Half & Half/ Whole Milk - Or Your Favorite Rich & Creamy Milk – add as desired
Instructions
- Combine scoops of ice cream, blue curaçao, Irish whiskey, Green River soda, and cream or milk in a blender.
- Pour in a tall glass. Garnish with whipped cream or whipped topping such as cool whip or truwhip and finish with green sprinkles on top. Add a straw and serve cold.
