Instructions

  • Start by dropping 2 whole strawberries that have been quartered into the bottom of your cocktail shaker.
Next, tear and toss in 4 to 5 fresh basil leaves.
  • Using a muddler, crush the strawberries and basil leaves together until the juices are released and the aroma from the basil comes through.
  • Next, fill the shaker about halfway with ice and drizzle in the agave nectar, fresh lime juice, and silver tequila.
  • Cover and shake the strawberries, basil, agave nectar, lime, and tequila together until chilled and combined.
  • Swipe a rocks glass with a wedge of lime and dip into colorful sanding sugars.
Fill the rocks glass with a scoop of fresh ice, and using a cocktail strainer, strain the cocktail into the rocks glass (leaving the crushed berries, leaves, and old ice behind).
  • Finish by topping off the cocktail with a splash of sparkling water (or dry prosecco sparkling wine, if desired).
  • Top the strawberry basil Easter margarita cocktail with fresh strawberry slices, lime wheels, and fresh basil leaves as desired. Serve ice cold.
