Ingredients
  

For The Hydrangea's Kiss Cocktail

For The Lemon Ginger Syrup

  • 6 slices Fresh Ginger Root
  • 2 strips Fresh Lemon Peel
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar

Instructions
 

Prepare the Lemon Ginger Syrup:

  • Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan and stir over the heat until sugar is melted completely into the water.  Bring to a high simmer then put the lid on and reduce heat to low. 
  • Continue simmering on low for 10 to 15 minutes.  Strain and let cool then transfer to an airtight container.  Use within 7 to 10 days.

Prepare the Cocktail:

  • Splash 1908 Empress gin in a cocktail shaker. Next, splash in the fresh lemon juice followed by the homemade lemon ginger syrup.
  • Lastly, splash in the Apologue Celery root liqueur and fill your shaker 3/4 of the way with ice. Put the lid or cap on.
  • Shake thoroughly until ingredients are all incorporated, combined, and nicely chilled.
  • Grab a martini glass and rub with a lime wedge then dip in a little pink sanding sugar, if desired. Pour your chilled and mixed cocktail into the martini glass and garnish with a fresh lime wheel and some edible flowers, if available. Enjoy while cold.

Notes

Lemon Ginger Syrup Note:
I like to poke and puncture the ginger slices with a fork a few times to help release more of their flavor into the syrup as it simmers in the heat.
