SERVINGS 4 cocktails

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 large Fresh Lemons
  • ¾ oz Vodka - added to each glass
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Sour Mix - added to each glass - recipe follows
  • ½ oz Elderflower Liqueur - to flavor the fresh lemon sour mix listed above
  • 1 tsp Lemon Zest - spread on a flat plate for cocktail rim
  • 1 tsp White Sugar - spread on a flat plate for cocktail rim
  • 1 bottle Chilled Prosecco or Champagne - dry brut sparkling wine or champagne, already chilled

Instructions

  • On a flat plate, zest the lemon and then sprinkle the white sugar over the lemon zest.  Gently combine with a spoon.  Swipe champagne flutes with a wedge of lemon and dip into the sugary lemon zest mixture.  Set aside.
  • Make the fresh lemon sour mix with elderflower: In a pyrex glass measuring cup or small bowl combine: 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice with 2 oz simple syrup plus 1/2 oz of elderflower liqueur.  Stir these three ingredients together thoroughly to combine (or shake them together in a mason jar with a tight fitting lid—do not add ice to the jar, cold sparkling wine will make the drink cold).  The sour mix is now finished.
  • Make the cocktail: add 3/4 oz of elderflower lemon sour mix to the bottom of each champagne flute. Follow up by topping that off with 3/4 oz of good quality vodka to the bottom of each champagne flute.  Finish by topping off your champagne flutes the rest of the way with very cold dry prosecco or brut champagne.
  • Garnish with fresh lemon slices.  Serve cold.

Notes

TOOLS OF THE TRADE:
To keep these measurements easy, fuss-free (and to keep each drink tasting consistent) I highly recommend measuring all liquids and spirits with the pyrex measuring glass and special jigger linked at the top of the recipe card.
These are the exact tools I use when making mine and they come out even and delicious every time, also this jigger has a 3/4 oz measuring line which makes everything easy.
